My son is 11 years old and has cystic fibrosis (CF). I asked my son’s school principal if we could do a fundraiser for 65 Roses Day, which is in May but it wasn’t possible due to other commitments. We decided to still do a fundraiser but on another day further down the track. The principal came up with the idea to have a dress up theme of being a hero for a day. So the children came dressed to school as someone who they considered to be a hero because they have done something special for the child. The principal asked my son if he would do a speech at the school assembly to tell the school why the Hero Day was so special to him and who his hero is.
